Firstly, congratulations to everyone who braved the mud and high water to compete in the BUCS Slalom event at HPP this weekend! I think it’s safe to say that the first ever South West BCU Student Safety course was a resounding success! Chris Eastabrook coached our small group over the weekend, helping us learn all sorts of useful stuff about how to run a good and safe club, how to effectively coach people, and how to lead people down rivers with different scenarios. We even managed to fit in some rope practice, personal skills and a good chat about possibilities when taking the club abroad. The weekend was packed full of a great variety of useful stuff, very tailored to what we felt we wanted to learn.
Will it be happening again next year? Definitely! So if you’re a south west uni and missed out this year, not to worry there’s always the next one.
