Advocacy Development Officer (YPA)

Job Description

Responsible to: Service Manager
Hours:  30 hours per week & 16 hours per week posts available
Salary: £15,600 / £8,320 (pay review pending) + travel expenses
(This role will include some evening/weekend work)
Location: Weston Super Mare with travel throughout North Somerset

Service overview:

Our ‘Young Persons Advocacy’ service is a new service for young people aged 16-30 and is designed to increase individual’s awareness of their rights, provide opportunities of empowerment, leading to a sense of control over their own lives. The service provision consists of: peer speaking up and support groups,1-1advocacy, and person centred planning

Key purpose of the job role:

As a key member of the ‘YPA’ team, you will be responsible for providing a range of communication and peer support services for people with a learning disability, learning difficulty, and/or autism who access the service.

Advocacy Development Officer

Job Description

Responsible to: Service Manager

Hours: 20 hours per week – (25-30 hours per week may be considered)

Salary: £11,440

(This role may include occasional evening)

Location: Services delivered across Bristol & South Gloucestershire.

(Office base in Weston Super Mare, attendance required a minimum of once per month)

Service overview:

The provision of Self Advocacy groups/forums across Bristol and South Gloucestershire for people with learning disabilities age 16+. The service plan is designed to increase individual’s awareness of their rights, responsibilities and to provide opportunities of empowerment, leading to a sense of control over individuals own lives. The service provision consists of: peer speaking up and support groups, 1-1advocacy, and person centred planning

Key purpose of the job role:

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating a range of communication and peer support services for people with a learning disability who access the service.

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT WORKER

HOURS: 25 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9am-2pm) Term time only

SALARY: £10,237.00 (paid monthly over 12-month period)

LOCATION: Children Centre’s based in Weston-super-Mare (4 days) and Clevedon (1 day)

START DATE: 1st September 2022 (induction/training will take place during the summer holidays, the successful applicant will be paid in full for time giving to complete induction/training)

North Somerset People First is a small charity, supporting people with learning disabilities, difficulties and/or autism to speak up for themselves and be in control of their own lives.

We are looking to recruit an Employment Support Worker. Working as part of a team in vibrant and busy Children’s Centres, the Employment Support Worker will be responsible for providing person centred support that enables Customer Service Assistants who have a learning disability and/or autism to carry out their job role.

As well as experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and/ or autism, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will work well with others and bring a high level of enthusiasm and self-motivation.
